Former Louisiana and LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has passed away at the age of 24. His death occurred on the night of April 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas, and was confirmed by a family member. Reports indicate that the cause of death is suspected to be suicide.

Lacy had recently declared for the 2025 NFL Draft after a standout senior season at LSU, where he led the Tigers with nine receiving touchdowns and was second on the team with 58 receptions for 866 yards . Over his collegiate career, which began at the University of Louisiana before transferring to LSU, he amassed 162 receptions for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns.

In January 2025, Lacy was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle in connection with a fatal car crash that occurred on December 17, 2024, in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The incident resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Lacy allegedly fled the scene but later surrendered to authorities and was released on bond. A grand jury was scheduled to hear evidence in the case on April 14, 2025.

Lacy's untimely death has sent shockwaves through the LSU community and the broader football world. As investigations continue, many are reflecting on his contributions on the field and the circumstances surrounding his passing.
